Reverse Engineering

UKC Group – Reverse Engineering and Obsolescence Solutions

Fed up with suppliers who discontinue product lines, go out of business, or change ownership and focus?

We offer the following processes directly or outsourced providing a one-stop solution to ISO 9001 and AS 9100 standards:

Manufacturing replacement parts from working or non-working samples.

Manufacturing replacement parts from technical drawings.

Repairs and Overhauls.

Rebuilding multilayer PCB boards, when schematics are no longer available.

Modernisation/re-design of PCB allowing for the use of modern components where necessary, offering fully functional drop-in replacements.

From a non-working sample, we can provide a technical data pack including:

Full Drawings, BOM, Gerber files, Photographs

X-ray Reports

Metallurgy laboratory report of sample

Metallurgy laboratory report of metal used

Stress testing, if required. Report supplied

Finished product metallurgy lab report

Hardening, if required. Report supplied

Independent Test Report

Certification and Warranty

This way, “obsolescence is a thing of the past”. You no longer need to worry about manufacturers going out of business. You own the data pack, you choose where to have your products made, but always having the peace of mind, that the data master will always stay with you.

Recent Reverse Engineering Projects

8 Layer PCB for Plessey Radar

  • Last Printed Circuit Board (PCB) available worldwide
  • The board level components were carefully removed and a BOM created
  • Each PCB layer was sliced/removed and a digital image taken
  • Once all the layers were mapped, a Gerber file was created
  • New boards were manufactured
  • The new boards were re-populated with new surplus components
  • We were then able to continue supplying this board for Plessey Radar

Cable Assemblies – Lynx Helicopter

  • 5995-99-775-3212 – CABLE ASSEMBLY,SPEC
  • 5995-99-775-8122 – CABLE ASSEMBLY,SPEC
  • 5995-99-775-1999 – CABLE ASSEMBLY,SPEC
  • CVC/BSL hold the drawings for these cables
  • Connectors and cable were free issued to cable assembler
  • Fully assembled cables are shipped to our customer

Power Transformer
NSN 5950-99-971-9416
(BSL P/N: B144626)

  • We carry the original drawings for this transformer
  • The individual piece parts are manufactured for us in the UK
  • The transformer is assembled and shipped to our customer

Ceramic Feedthrough
NSN 5940-99-056-0057

  • This feedthrough was last manufactured by our group company BSL over 15 years ago and the drawings were no longer available
  • CVC had the last known stock left worldwide
  • The parts were located and prepared for re-manufacture
  • The metal was chemically analysed, CAD drawings were produced before the metal was machined
  • The units were sent to an overseas ceramic sealing specialist before being fired at 820 centigrade to sinter the glaze
  • We now continue to supply these parts
